Writing as an activity, is to

- Write down notes.

- Pen down important things.

- Fill form, pass book and etc.

- Just scribble or doodle for kids.

Having said that it’s an activity that happens as a normal process or function of our body. Not that everyone likes it. Writing can be lethargic to many. In today’s techno-geek era, who does have a pen to carry with or rather takes effort to carry one in their pocket? Unless you have a hobby to vouch for or you’re a student.

Shift your focus to the old times, the writing was divine then. There were people who were respected for their handwriting. They held the prestigious tags during college and school time. An apple of drawing teacher's eye. :-) They were the one's looked out the most for any event which needed handwriting experts to showcase their talent on the front board. To cut the story short, there was some essence and truth behind these stories and something to dig in by the handwriting experts.

So let’s take our focus forward on the positive today and inculcate this habit in today’s life.

Writing can be a daily activity. You may write unknowingly without knowing its importance or helplessly just to fill a form, but making it a habit may solve some of your serious problems in life.

Write when…

1. Write when you’re angry instead of wasting your energy in speaking and yelling in rage onto others and later nurturing your guilt.

2. Write when you're happy. Yes! You heard me right. Though we have phones and Polaroid to capture the moment in pictorial format, feelings can convey sentiments. Feelings can be penned down along with the snap by pouring your heart out & carrying that lovely smile forever.

3. Write when you want to achieve something in life.

4. An important one - Write when you forget or disremember.

How many of you at a young age complain of lack of memory retention? Then it's time to make your pen work.

It's newfangled to type notes in the phone but practicing with hands will allow you to recollect easily as it's a subconscious activity happening with your brain while you write using your hands.

While reading is an important aspect of learning, listening is also an essential part of learning and development. People often ask me, what’s the difference between hearing and listening?

The answer is simple and it requires your skills.

Hearing is a default function. On the other hand, listening is an art you possess by birth or is acquired through continuous practice. Here there's another glitch, people listen to respond. The moment they listen to the other person they hastily want to reply to them in some way or the other.

Has it happened with you? You listen to someone and immediately want to give a solution, give advise, stop the other person and speak. At times, it is to show the other person that they are wrong or show your macho skills of tackling problems. If you have done it you really need to self analyze if you're a good listener or not. The problem is that the other person does not always demand or needs your answer. Perhaps, they want to be heard or need your attention. They want to share their feelings. They meant to pour their heart out and feel better. They have trust and faith in you, that you won't go and tell it to other people. You should understand that they aren't looking for answers.

So it's time to be an effective listener. You have to hone your listening skills from time to time and generation to generation.

Let’s say,

If your friend is a taciturn person, then show them your qualities of being a sensible and effective listener. Definitely, the sapid conversation will turn into a great gusto.

Below are the variant ways you can practice to develop your listening skills.

1. Watch movies without audio sound. Try to understand what’s happening.

2. If you feel your friend is in need and wants to pour his/her heart to you. Be patient and listen. Don’t listen to respond; listen to understand.

3. Hold on your comments, if people around you are having messy conversations. While you commute from place to place try to be a good listener.

4. You can try to be a sharp observant wherein you only observe and comprehend. Don’t speak.

KEY: Listening can solve your major communication obstacles. Take time to change yourself. Change for a purpose. Listen! Listen! Listen! And when and if needed then you reply or respond.

What is positivity?

Positive thinking is filling up your mind with hope, faith, security, happiness & confidence. Positive thinking is your approach towards the situation. Positive thinking is the energy that you carry with you and within you. The most herculean force in the universe is "the inner force" or "silent force" mentioned by James Allen in one of his books. Rather than a plethora of ambiguity in mind with mixed and multiple thoughts -  "the silent power of thought" is always better.

Positivity around you and within you can change the situation, it can change the thought process, it can evacuate the dull and negative energy around you. It will keep you happy, content, satisfied, blissful, wise and with clutter free mind.

Giving time for yourself is a self-driven thought which can change yourself.

Positivity can be being calm for one person & it can be being content for another. Though the ultimate goal would be the same in terms of giving or expecting results. That's all about positivity and positive thinking.

Let’s read a practical example:

Once there were two employees from Sales & Marketing department. They were Raj and Jay. Their company had got a big project recently and these two got selected for Sales & Marketing of apparel product.

At the scenario - They both got landed at a different location. It was a village in a rural area with no such development in the area or living. People in that village weren't wearing proper clothes. Instead, they wrapped themselves with leaves and rags to cover their body.   

Raj - How can I even sell or market my product of apparels here because no one is educated and there is no development. They won't understand the importance of clothing. They all must be having an orthodox mindset. Who will buy? Forget buying they won't even talk to me. My career is finished. I'm going back and working as an Executive.

Jay - Oh! Wow. I can see opportunity lying right in front of me. The entire market is mine. I can spread the importance of apparel and the benefits. I can sell my product to each and every individual. An opportunity to showcase my skills. And if I give my best and achieve something, likewise I might get more rural villages to look after. Also, there are chances of becoming a Marketing Head for a particular location. This is a kick start of my career.

In above you can see how a positive approach changed the situation & created opportunity.

This is the power of “Silent thought & Positive thinking”.

Was it easy for Jay?

No. Not at all. Nothing comes easy in life. They say "Easy earnings are bigger loses"; "Quick & shorter gratifications are temporary. These things can never be for a long term in your life. And remember, to develop any skill you at least need to practice it for minimum 21 days.
